I recently watched something rather astonishing: a documentary series by National Geographic called "Breakthrough" about advances in medicine that slow aging. These breakthroughs do not just treat disease; they treat aging itself.
"Age modification," it's called.
And, not surprisingly, this fountain of youth centers around the genes. Lab tests on animals have proved a long-held theory right: by just changing one gene, lifespan can be almost doubled (or more).
The question is will this work in humans? The scientific community is close to finding out.
